Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. identified the arrested alleged Militia ng Bayan member as Eric G. Enriquez, 33, who is allegedly a supply courier for the Weakened Guerrilla Front 19 (WGF 19) of the CPP-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEPRC).
The operation was carried out by the Army’s 3rd Special Forces Battalion (3rd SFBn), 13th Regional Mobile Forces Battalion (13th RMFBn), Surigao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Lianga Municipal Police Station at around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday based on the warrant of arrest issued on May 21, 2018, by Judge Lilibeth O. Ladaga of the Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Branch 28.
The suspect was charged with murder and multiple attempted murder.
The PRO 13 also reported on Thursday that from January 1, 2020 to May 19, 2020, a total of 91 Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) were already neutralized in Caraga region.
Out of 91, 30 were apprehended based on the strength of warrant of arrest, 10 were captured during armed encounter and checkpoint operations, 43 surrendered to the authorities, and eight were killed in the firefight, PRO 13 record said.
“The local folks are already fed up with the abuses and illegal activities of the CNTs, that’s why they are now reporting to government security forces,” Esquivel said.
“The CNTs are now losing their grip in the mountains,” the PRO13 top police official added.
