TACLOBAN CITY, Nov. 8 (PIA) -- The Las Navas, Samar Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF ELCAC) was officially organized on November 6, 2019.

The members of the Las Navas, Northern Samar Joint Municipal Peace & Order and Municipal Development Councils moved for the creation of the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC).

The LGU's Outline in the creation of the MTF-ELCAC for Las Navas locally dubbed "Sumpayan Para ha Kamurayaw ngan Kauswagan," which will serve as guide for the MTF's core team and Punong Barangays, was also presented and adopted.

Moreover, the Mayor issued an Executive Order for the adoption of the Retooled Community Service Program and the formation of the Core Team.

Significantly, the MPOC and MDC made a Joint resolution also declaring the CPP/NPA/NDF Persona Non Grata.

The joint meeting was attended by 110 participants composed of LGU officials, department heads, community development officers, Punong Barangays, NGOs and civil society groups led by Municipal Mayor Arlito Tan.

About 41 Punong Barangays attended which included Punong Barangays of the five ELCAC priority Barangays, namely, Magsaysay, Quirino, San Antonio, Perez, and San Francisco.

Prior to the organization, the SAKM RTF8-ELCAC team presented a series of orientation briefing about EO70 and Call to Action. Northern Samar Provincial Director Danilo Laguitan discussed the Retooled Community Support Program while 20IB Battalion Commander LTC Juan Gullem discussed the present internal conflict in Las Navas and nearby towns. Municipal Chief of Police PCapt Fernandez presented the Peace and Order Situation.

Also present in the meeting were 803Bde Comdr Col. Zozimo Oliveros and MLGOO Melbert Gallano. (PIA 8 with report from NICA 8)
