CALBIGA, Samar, Nov. 7 (PIA) - Some 25 former rebels, Yunit Militia, Sangay sa Partido sa Lokalidad, Underground Mass Organization (UGMO) and their dependents from Conflict Affected Areas or Geographically Isolated Disadvantage Areas (GIDAs) in Calbiga, Samar underwent training on organic vegetable, organic fertilizer production, and entrepreneurship.
The training started on October 6, 2019 under the Poverty Reduction and Livelihood Employment Cluster (PRLE) of Samar Provincial Task force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) thru Technical Education Skills and Developemnt Authority 8 (TESDA).
Held at the Headquarters of the 46th Infantry Battalion of the 8th Infantry Battalion at Brgy. Polangi, Calbiga, Samar, the training aimed to enhance skills and knowledge of the trainees as their source of additional income in support to their daily needs. It also aimed to help the trainees become more productive individuals as they go back to the mainstream society.
It is part of the PTF-ELCAC Samar and MTF-ELCAC Calbiga efforts in providing the needed interventions of the constituents to prevent them from being exploited by the CTG.
This is also a way of showing to the people the genuine concern of the government in providing the needed services in the community.
Present during the launching program were Mrs. Delia Mabansag, CTEC/PESO; Dominador Cabornay, Brgy. Captain of Brgy. Polangi; Ms Eva Ranas, the MSWDO of Calbiga; Mr Alberto I Etac, SPTC Admin/Sr TESD Specialist of TESDA representing Engr. Enrico Banario, PD of TESDA Samar; and LTC Rhomel R. Langcauon, Commanding Officer of 46IB, 8ID,PA.
