Top national government officials in Western Visayas including the representative from the church sign a Pledge of Commitment, March 25, at the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army camp in Jamindan, Capiz.

The signing of the pact is in view of Executive Order 70, otherwise known as Institutionalization of the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace and the Creation of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, issued by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Armed Forces of the Philippine Chief of Staff Gen. Benjamin Madrigal, Jr. said the signing of the Pledge of Commitment in Western Visayas aims to operationalize the creation of a Regional Task Force, here.

“It is the local Task Force that will implement the various programs, hence there must be the leveling of understanding among the members, how to deliver the programs especially under the Task Force Balik Loob, Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, as well as the strategic communication and other government services,” he said.

Madrigal was the guest of honor and speaker during the event which was led by 3ID Philippine Army Commander MGen. Dinoh Dolina.

He said the government has already been doing its part especially in delivering social, economic and political reforms as well as implementation of local peace initiatives such as service caravans, infrastructure projects in public affected areas, and the like.

Madrigal said that the local chief executives should be the champion in the realization of the plan by the task group.

“President Duterte wanted to end the problem on insurgency before his term ends as he wanted not to pass this problem to the next administration,” he said, expressing optimism that this problem will be solved with the creation of the task force and with everyone united for this drive.

He also urged everyone to help in resolving the root causes of insurgency in order to attain genuine peace and development in the countryside.
