From the Philippine Information Agency (Sep 19): Duterte assures funds for army’s medical needs

GAMU, Isabela -- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assured enough funds for the health and medical needs of soldiers.
During his visit at the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz in Isabela on Tuesday, he said his administration shares P50 million fund a month for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the purchase of medicines. He also released P500 million to ensure management of the health of every soldiers.
“I will always take care of you for as long as I am the President of this republic,” Duterte said in front the 400 soldiers of the 5th ID.
He said the country needs reliable and determined leaders who will continue to fight against the ills of society, those who will help the government in realizing the vision of having a stronger and safer nation.
“If we don’t have law and order, and corruption persists, we will never improve,” the President said.
He further acknowledged the selfless dedication and heroism of soldiers who helped the victims of typhoon “Ompong “ in different parts of country, especially those who performed the pre-emptive evacuations, search, rescue and retrieval operations.
The President, while at the camp, also witnessed the turn over of a tractor by the Department of Agriculture to the 5th ID which will be used by the soldiers in their agricultural activities.
