From the Manila Bulletin (Sep 20): AFP on track to decimating NPA by mid-2019
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Thursday that it is on the right track in the campaign to decimate the terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) by middle of next year.

Colonel Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesman, said that, given the resolve of the current administration, and the cooperation of other agencies of government, the AFP is confident that it will succeed in its mission of defeating the enemy.
Arevalo said the number of NPA regulars and supporters surrendering in droves with their firearms is phenomenal, indicating a decline in their force.
“Their Guerrilla Fronts were either dismantled or downgraded one after the other. High-ranking leaders of this terrorist group are neutralized in succession,” Arevalo said in a statement. “These are what the CPP-NPA continues to ignore or refuses accept. It’s more like them whistling in the dark.”
“Or this could be NPA rhetorics to project capability and entice other groups to join them in their bid to topple the President?” he added.
Arevalo said that the military will ensure that they will not succeed with their plans.
