President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is expected to arrive in the city tomorrow (October 10), particularly at the Police Regional Office 9 headquarters in Camp Romeo Abendan, Barangay Mercedes.

As per advice from the Malacanang Media Accreditation and Relations Office (MARO), President Duterte is scheduled to arrive in the afternoon to have a command conference with PNP officials to discuss security concerns as well as other significant developments in the local setting.

Prior to his visit in the city, President Duterte will also be in Lamitan, Basilan to attend the Tapatan: Gobyerno at Mamamayan in Lamitan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (LARBECO).

Security has been tight in Zamboanga City as it is currently celebrating the month-long Zamboanga Hermosa Festival honoring its patron saint, Nuestra Senora La Virgen del Pilar.

The feast day is on October 12. Cellular signals have been down from 4 in the afternoon to 8 in the evening today for security measures as a float parade was held in the city's main thoroughfares.

As can be recalled, the local police with the support of vigilant residents were able to foil an alleged bombing plot by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG). Three (3) ASG members were cornered and arrested in a local hotel. Bomb paraphernalia, grenades and firearms were seized from their possession.
