From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 9): PNP nabs ASG member in QC
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested a Malaysian national who is a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).
PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group's Anti-Transnational Crimes Unit (CIDG-ATCU) head Chief Insp. Roque Merdegia on Sunday reported that joint elements of the PNP-CIDG-ATCU and the Intelligence Group (IG) arrested Amin Aklam, a hardened ASG member, in a house at 104 Cotabato St., Barangay Culiat, Quezon City on Saturday.
Aklam is a Malaysian national affiliated with the terrorist group.
He stands an accused in a case for kidnapping with frustrated murder now pending before the Jolo, Sulu Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 3.
Aklam is included in the list of most wanted person (MWP) affiliated with the ASG issued by the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Other persons who were found inside the said house were invited for verification.
