From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 10): Police intelligence agents nab alleged ASG member in Zamboanga
Police intelligence agents have arrested an alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Zamboanga City on Monday.
The law enforcement operation was conducted by intelligence operatives of the Zamboanga City police and the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 9 at Campaner St., Zamboanga City that led to the arrest of Amir Intong Salihin.
Recovered from Salihin's possession were 1 cal. 45 pistol with 1 magazine and 4 live ammunitions and 1 rifle grenade.
The suspect is from Isabela City, Basilan and an alleged member of ASG under Isnilon Hapilon.
He served as the liaison for finance and logistics of the ASG and was believed to be actively involved in improvised explosive device (IED) operations.
He was tasked to procure IED materials to be used in their bombing operations.
Further investigation and follow-up operation is being conducted by the Zamboanga City police to gather further information relative to their plan.
