Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX) 2016 between the Philippines and United States is ending a day early. The 33rd iteration of PH-US PHIBLEX which started October was supposed to be ending tomorrow October 12.

Philippines Marines spokesman and PHIBLEX Public Affairs Officer Captain Ryan Lacuesta said officials from US and Philippines decided to close the joint exercise today because all the training activities were all completed yesterday.

“This is also in consideration of the movement of our counterparts. The equipment that they are going to load to their ships are coming from different exercise venues,” he said. “The major exercise has been concluded also so we decided to move the closing ceremony.”

This year’s PHIBLEX is seen to be last bilateral military exercise between Philippines and US, as stated by President Rodrigo Duterte.
