From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 10): AFP to continue purging ranks of drug users -- Visaya
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff Gen. Ricardo Visaya said the military will continue to clean its ranks of personnel using or involved in the illegal drugs trade.
Visaya made the statement during his visit to 3rd Infantry Division headquarters in Jamindan, Capiz over the weekend,
He also said that for the last five years, there were 300 soldiers who were found to be drug users and were immediately subjected to investigation and eventually discharged from military service.
Visaya said the AFP will continue to conduct on the spot random drug testing to purge its ranks of drug users.
In the same vein, he also instructed all military units to support the Philippine National Police by gathering information on suspected drug syndicates and providing back-up during anti-narcotics operations.
