To ensure better cooperation between the military and police
in law enforcement operations, the Cagayan De Oro-based 4th Infantry Division
and its Philippine National Police (PNP) counterparts in Region 10 and 13
participated in a three-day Law Enforcement Operations Trainer's Training which
started Monday.
Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez, 4th Infantry Division public
affairs office chief, said the three-day event started 9:00 a.m. at the
Division Clubhouse, Camp
Evangelista , Cagayan De
Oro City.
He added the activity is a firm response to the current
thrust of the national government in the fight against the illegal drug menace.
"This training will further enhance the capacity of
each soldier to support the law enforcement operations being conducted by the
PNP. This will also enhance the collaboration of the PNP and Armed Forces of
the Philippines prior the
implementation of the 'PNP-AFP Kabalikat Laban sa Droga,' a joint implementing
plan in line with the PNP's Oplan Double-Barrel," Martinez said.
Resource speakers from the PNP and Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency were invited to share their insights on matters pertaining
the whole process of the law enforcement operations.
They will also discuss the particular role of the AFP during
the course of the anti-illegal drug campaign.
"This training is aimed at capacitating our troops on
the rigors of law enforcement. It's been more than six months since President
Rodrigo Roa Duterte outlined his campaign to eradicate the illegal drugs,
criminality and corruption in the Country in order to build safer and more
productive communities for all our citizens and further attain enduring and
permanent peace," 4th Infantry Division commander Major Gen. Benjamin R.
Madrigal said.
