The key officers of five People’s Organizations (POs) from Southern Mindanao (SouthMin), particularly Sarangani province, underwent a two-day Organizational and Management Training in an effort to strengthen their capacity to sustain the development projects they implement under the Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Program (MTFRDP).

The activity, held at Microtel in General Santos City on October 18-19, 2015, enhanced the skills and knowledge of the participants to carry their tasks as key officers for the effective of human resource and financial management of their respective organizations.

It is a component of the Institutional Strengthening Agreement (ISA) supported by the MTFRDP in partnership with the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) and Mindanao Land Foundation (MinLand).

A six-month engagement that will end by December this year, ISA provides to the POs with capability-building initiatives to the target organizations.

The MTFRDP has provided development projects in target conflict affected areas of Sarangani province implemented by the POs through the facilitation of the staff of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) -  SouthMin Regional Management Office (RMO).

Since 2012, the BDA staff from SouthMin RMO and Central Management Office has been providing capability-building activities to the officers and members of the POs in accordance to the Community Driven Development process espoused by the MTFRDP.

There were nine barangays in the province served by the program namely Ticulab, Maguling and Mindupok in Maitum, Amsipit, Daliao and Lumasal in Maasim and Lun Masla, Tuyan and Libi in Malapatan.

Of these nine communities, ISA is implemented in barangays Tuyan, Lun Masla, Ticulab, Maguling and Lumasal. 

The POs have been managing development projects that include water system, various post-harvest facilities and fishing vessels.

MTFRDP is supported by various donors such as the European Union; the Swedish International Development Agency; the Australian Embassy in the Philippines; Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada; the United States Agency for International Development; the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the World Bank, which also serves as the Trust Fund Secretariat.
