PANDAG,
MAGUINDANAO –
In a community forum on the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) and the
Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) at Pandag, Maguindanao on
October 25, 2015, MILF Information Director Arnold Monsod told the 50
participants comprising different sectors of Moro communities in Maguindanao,
“Not to lose hope despite the uncertainties on the fate of the Bangsamoro Basic
Law (BBL).
Monsod
was quoting MILF Peace panel Chair Mohagher Iqbal, who once said, “Never lose
hope, although there is no assurance for the passage of the proposed law.
This forum
was realized through the facilitation of Mindanaoan Humanitarian and
Development Initiative, Inc. (MinHuDI, Inc.), and funded by Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of the Australian Government through The Asia
Foundation (TAF).
MinHuDI
team had already conducted similar forum in 4 municipalities of Maguindanao and
contemplating to conduct the same program in the remaining four municipalities
of the province.
After the
traditional ‘du’a’ or invocation, Ustadz Taha Baladsikan, Executive Officer of
the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP)-Tacurong Chapter, delivered the
welcome address.
Ustadz Taha
B. Mustapha gave words of wisdom, advised the participants to disseminate what
they will learn in the activity.
He also
quoted some verses from the Noble Qur’an that “Men must always be ready for
whatever might happen in the future”.
The
overview of the program was presented by Norodin Dimaukom, Executive Director
of MinHuDI, followed by a short message from Shiekh Moidjodin Talusob of the
Kalilintad Development Foundation, Inc. (KDFI).
The inputs
on the FAB, CAB and the BBL were presented and discussed thoroughly by Mr.
Monsod.
Mixed
reactions were observed on the faces of the participants after Director Monsod
completed his lecture on the background of the peace process, highlights on
FAB, CAB, and the BBL, the 4 Annexes, and the current status of the peace
process.
“We
are thankful to have an articulate speaker in the person of Director Monsod as
I learned a lot from him. I am so impressed when he discussed the tarsila of
our forefathers”, said Mangabay Kalilayan, who obviously wasn’t able to control
her tears from falling.
“I remember
my family. 19 of my relatives were massacred during martial law”, she added.
