Four Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopters have been
deployed in the ongoing relief operations for typhoon "Ineng"
battered communities in Ilocos Sur province.
These consists of three W-3A "Sokol" and one UH-ID
combat utility helicopters, PAF spokesperson Col. Enrico Canaya said.
The helicopters are assigned to the 505th Search-and-Rescue
Group.
He said that these aircraft transported relief items
consisting of 15 sacks of assorted canned goods and 31 boxes of drinking water
to residents of Barangay Dammay Oribi, Santa town and Baragay Puro, Cagayan
town, both in Ilocos Sur.
However, bad weather prompted the cancellation of other
relief flights.
"Future flight operations will resume to serve other
affected towns of Ilocos Sur particularly San Emilio and Lidlidda as soon as
weather permits," Canaya added.
