Two Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits were killed while another
one was wounded as military units mortared an encampment of the brigands in
Patikul, Sulu Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at 5 a.m. at the vicinity of Tanum
and Sandah, Patikul town, Joint Task Group Sulu commander Brig. Gen. Alan
Arrojado said.
Military units were conducting clearing operations when they
spotted the ASG encampment sheltering the wounded bandits.
Last week, around 20 ASG bandits were killed in the focused
military operations which also led to the recovery of the two abducted
Philippine Coast Guard members.
At this point, troopers from the 35th Infantry Battalion
requested mortar support which was promptly delivered, killing two ASG bandits
and wounding one.
The slain brigands were identified as Emmar Jawhari, a
resident of Kanjimao, and Naser Muhammad, of Barangay Kabuntakas.
Wounded was Ammel Madjid, a resident of Kantitap.
These bandits casualties were reportedly under ASG
sub-leader Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan.
The captured ASG camp is capable of sheltering 100 bandits.
Recovered from it were one link of M-60 light machine ammunition, personal
belongings and one memory card reportedly with high intelligence value.
