With the 31st iteration of the annual "Balikatan"
exercises to start this April 20, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on
Tuesday announced that it is launching "Balikatan" Photo Contest this
week.
All interested individuals must first register online at
http://dwdd.com.ph/2015/balikatan-2015-photo-contest-registration/.
Each participant may register and send five entries per
event through the DWDD Facebook fanpage Balikatan 2015 Photo Contest App
(https://www.facebook.com/dwdd1134/app_451684954848385).
Each entry must be accompanied by the name of the
photographer, title of photo, description, and event that shall be submitted
through registration application of the Facebook fan page of DWDD.
Prizes at stake at the national level are Php15,000
(Military Category), Php15,000 (Civilian-Pro) and Php15,000 (Civilian Non-Pro).
On the local level, prizes are Php10,000.00 (Military
Category), Php10,000.00 (Civilian-Pro) and Php10,000.00 (Civilian Non-Pro).
A participant can only win once per area. An area winner can
also win in the national level.
There will be three (3) winners on the national level and
nine in the area command level.
The contest is open to military, civilian, professional and
non-professional photographers.
Each photo entry will be judged according to content (45
percent), technical aspect (35 percent) and online votes (20 percent).
"Balikatan" is an annual combined joint exercise
between the Governments of the Republic of the Philippines
and US which will be held in the Philippines on this April 20 to 30.
This is conducted every year to serve as a venue for joint
and combined training between the Philippines
and United States
militaries.
