From InterAksyon (Mar 13): 2 alleged NPA finance officers captured in Sorsogon clash
Two alleged finance officers of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ Bicol Regional Party Committee were captured Thursday morning during an encounter between rebels and government troops in Magallanes, Sorsogon.
Captain Mardjorie Paimela Panesa, spokesperson of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division, said the clash broke out around 6:15 a.m. at the Batang Ilan Complex.
Panesa said one of the captives, identified only as “Ino” had been “wounded during the fire fight and he was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment after he surrendered.”
The other captured rebel, Elias Pura, alias “Soling,” “was cornered by our soldiers and policemen and he surrendered peacefully,” Panesa added.
Recovered from the two were an M653 rifle, better known as a Baby Armalite, a .45-caliber pistol, two improvised explosive devices and a hand grenade.
Another clash also took place in Barangay Jangan, Balud, Masbate around 6:10 a.m. Thursday after which soldiers recovered two M16 Armalite rifles, a carbine and personal belongings.
