This was disclosed by PNP XI spokesperson Chief Inspector Jed Clamor, who however, said the wounded government troops are confined at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and still undergoing medical treatment. He said they were already out of danger.
The five policemen and a member of the 84th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army encountered members of the NPAs at around 1:30 in the afternoon last July 8 in Barangay Baracatan, and Catigan in Toril District.
Eastern Mindanao Command spokesperson Captain Alberto Caber revealed to reporters that the government troops were conducting a combat patrol in Toril area when they encountered the rebels. The gunfight lasted almost 30 minutes.
