Posted to Kalinaw News (Oct 22, 2021): CGPA visits troops in Sulu

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA), Lt. Gen. Andres C Centino, visited the troops of the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division and its line units on October 21, 2021, in Jolo, Sulu.

The visit is in line with the CGPA’s thrust to ensure that troops’ morale is high and the unit’s operational readiness is excellent. The CGPA also wanted to ensure that the support from Headquarters Philippine Army reaches the last boots on the ground and all unit commanders understand the guidance from higher headquarters.

During his “Talk to the troops,” the CGPA commended the troops on their contribution to 11ID’s successful focused and intelligence-driven military operations. These operations led to the neutralization of 21, apprehension of nine (9), and surrender of 105 high-value individuals (HVIs) Abu Sayyaf Group members, and the seizure of 19 low-powered and 61 high-powered firearms.

The CGPA also recognized the division’s successful rescue of four (4) Indonesian kidnapped victims in Tawi-Tawi and the seizure of one (1) hectare of a marijuana plantation in Kalingalan Caluang.

The CGPA also visited the troops of the 21st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Special Forces Battalion, 1102nd Infantry Brigade, and 1101st Infantry Brigade to ensure their well-being and operational readiness as they fight against all threat groups in their area of operation amid the pandemic.

“Sa ating magigiting na mga Alakdan Troopers, maraming salamat sa inyong patuloy na pagseserbisyo para mapanatili ang kapayapaan dito sa Sulu. While you hunt, strike, and weaken the enemy’s influence and stronghold in Sulu, rest assured that the Headquarters Philippine Army will provide your unit with the necessary equipment and resources to accomplish our mission with decisive results,” said Lt. Gen. Centino.
