From GMA News (Jul 10): 2 NPAs killed, 2 cops hurt in Surigao Del Norte clash
Two suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed while two policemen were wounded in a firefight in Surigao del Norte, an Army news release said Thursday.
According to 1Lt. Joe Patrick Martinez, at least 60 members of the NPA onboard a truck assaulted the municipal police station in Alegria around 3 p.m.
The firefight lasted for 30 minutes until the NPA members overran the post and withdrew towards Barangays Siringan and Bliss in the municipality of Kitcharao.
Members of the army reinforced the police force and are still scouring the area.
