From Kalinaw News (Apr 26, 2023): Government forces seize war materiel in Maguindanao del Sur
Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City – April 26, 2023Combined elements from the AFP and PNP seized war materiel belonging to warring Moro Islamic Liberation Front groups in Maguindanao del Sur.
Operating troops from the 2nd Mechanized Battalion and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted a clearing operation in Barangay Elian, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, on Monday morning, April 24.
The operation resulted in the recovery of one caliber .38 revolver, one hand grenade, one short magazine, one bandolier, one 81mm mortar canister, and four 60mm mortar canisters.
According to Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, Commander of Joint Task Force Central, the recovered items are believed to be left behind by the warring BIAF-MILF groups (118BC and 105BC). The recovered items were handed over to PNP EOD Team for proper disposition.
“The military continues to assist the police and the local government units in the intensified conduct of law enforcement operations. We will not allow any group to create fear and havoc in the communities under the WestMinCom’s area of operations,” Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command, said.
