MANILA – At least 79 members of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA) have surrendered to different police units in Mimaropa region from January to April 25 this year, according to Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4B.
Mimaropa is comprised of the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Doria said the latest surrenderer was "Ka Ran/Kit", 25, who hails from Macalelon, Quezon, and a former member of NPA Komiteng Larangang Gerilya (KLG) - Ignacio Calabria Magadia (ICM) under the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA) of the 4D ISLACOM MINDORO Lucio De Guzman Command, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC).
He voluntarily surrendered to the personnel of Oriental Mindoro PPO 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company at 1st PMFC Headquarters in Barangay San Isidro, Victoria town on Tuesday morning.
The successful surrender of "Ka Ran/Kit", who is listed in the Periodic Status Report (PSR), was made possible through the assistance of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 4B; Oriental Mindoro PPO Provincial Intelligence Unit, Victoria Municipal Police Station, Coast Guard Intel Group Southern Tagalog (CGIG-STL), 76th Infantry Battalion and 23rd MICO of the Philippine Army.
The surrenderer is now under the custody of ORMIN PPO 1st PMFC for debriefing and assistance prior to enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive and Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
"This is yet another clear manifestation of the government’s effective campaign through the NTF-ELCAC. I commend the efforts of our PNP personnel and our AFP counterparts and member agencies in this shared success towards inclusive and sustainable peace in our region," Doria said.
“I am renewing my call to the remaining communist rebels to surrender and pledge support to our government. Rest assured of the government’s livelihood and reintegration assistance that are laid down for all returnees to help them start better chapters in their lives with their loved ones”, he added.
