CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela-Starting February 03, 2022, the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army will organize the 102nd Infantry Battalion as an additional force to pursue inclusive peace and development in the Area of Responsibility of the Division.
LTC Lemuel Baduya was installed as the Commander of the newly activated battalion which will first undergo organizational training to equip its personnel and resources to be operationally ready to take part in the government’s effort in ending local communist armed conflict. It will also assist the Local Government Units and other Government Agencies in the implementation of development as well as provide humanitarian assistance in its future area of operation.
LTC Baduya encouraged his troops to commit their service by all means for the people. “Let us all have our collective efforts to build a professional work environment. We will adopt the best practices of other battalions so we can manage to place the army government mechanism effectively.” He then thanked MGen Laurence E Mina, Commander of 5th Infantry Division for allowing him to showcase his abilities and knowledge in leading a unit that will attain peace and order. “To MGen Mina, thank you for the opportunity to exercise my leadership skills. Rest assured that I will uphold the Army’s mantra of Serving the People, Securing the Land.”
On the other hand, MGen Mina who served as the General Presiding Officer welcomed the said battalion. “Welcome to our growing organization. I have my full trust and confidence that you will accomplish your future tasks. May the force be with you!”
