Posted to Kalinaw News (Oct 25, 2021): Tropical Storm ‘Maring’ Victims Receive Relief Goods in Abra
Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – The troops of the 24th Infantry (WILDCAT) Battalion, Philippine Army assisted the transportation and distribution of relief goods by its partner stakeholder, Tanging Yaman Foundation for the victims of Tropical Storm ‘Maring’ in different barangays of Bangued, Dolores and Lagangilang, Abra on 21 October 2021.
Lieutenant Colonel Isidro DG Vicente, Commanding Officer of 24IB said that his unit utilized its military trucks going to Quezon City, Metro Manila, and New Manila to pick up and transport the relief packs to Abra Province for immediate distribution.
Damaged assessment of the PDRRMC Abra showed that the majority of the areas in Abra suffered from the wrath of TS ‘Maring’.
The Brgys of Palao, Ubbog, Lipcan, Cabuloan of Bangued, Abra, and the Brgys of Aguet of Lagangilang, Abra, and Sitio Pudao, Brgy Salucag, Dolores, Abra have been devastated by the storm.
Various government agencies and private sectors have joined hands to help the people in Abra who are continuously recovering from the enormous effect of the typhoon.
Among those who extended their efforts on the said event was Ms. Carmelita B. Bersalona, Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board (MSAB) member.
“Convergence among partner agencies in extending assistance to the affected Abrenians brought people back to their feet as they move to their normal way of living,” said LTC Vicente.
Meanwhile, the Acting Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army Brigadier General Luis Rex D. Bergante lauded the continued initiative of their partner-stakeholder in extending assistance to the victims of the typhoon in Abra and assured that the Army is always ready to assist them in their efforts to help the people.
“Natutuwa and at the same time nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating partner — ang Tanging Yaman Foundation, for their help sa mga biktima ng bagyo. Malaking bagay itong aktibidad na ito para sa pagbangon ng ating mga kababayan na sobrang na apektuhan ng kalamidad, muli ang aming taos pusong pasasalamat,” said BGen Bergante.
