A total of 40,059 Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines, Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Tuesday night.
In a televised Cabinet briefing with President Rodrigo R. Duterte, the defense chief said this is equivalent to 26 percent of the total number of AFP personnel.
"Ito po 'yung bilang ng mga DND-AFP personnel na nabakunahan na 40,059 (This is the number of DND-AFP personnel who were vaccinated, 40,059), which is 26 percent ng population ng AFP (of the AFP's population)," he added.
However, Lorenzana did not mention whether these personnel are partially or fully vaccinated.
Lorenzana added that he talked with National Task Force against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. regarding additional vaccine supplies so that all military personnel can be vaccinated as soon as possible.
Once the entire AFP population has been vaccinated, Lorenzana said the families of military personnel will be next to get the jabs.
