ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Apr 1 (PIA) – Lt. Col. Achilles A. Dela Cruz, Commander of the Fourth Special Forces Battalion bids farewell to the troops and to all the stakeholders as he ended his term with more than two-year stint as the Commanding Officer of this unit.

At the Change of Command Ceremony conducted on March 31 at the Headquarters, 4th Special Forces Battalion in Barangay Cabunbata, LtCol Dela Cruz relinquished his command and turned-over to the incoming Commanding Officer of the “Dolphin Warriors” Battalion.

In his speech, LtCol. Dela Cruz thanked those who, in one way or another, contributed to the overall accomplishment of the unit’s mission.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa aking mga kasamahan, sa ating mga leaders dito sa Basilan, at sa lahat ng partner NGOs, sa inyong tulong upang mapadali na magampanan namin ang aming tungkulin na gawing mapayapa, at panatilihing mapayapa ang aming areas of operation,” LtCol. Dela Cruz said.





Lt. Col. Dela Cruz was also grateful of the opportunity given to him to serve the people of Basilan Province, saying that he will continue to love Basilan and its people.

“I don’t mind serving here for more years but the dynamism in our organization must continue. I am very confident that Lt. Col. Ampati will bring this unit to much greater heights,” he added.




Meanwhile, the newly installed Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Alex D. Ampati, assured the outgoing Commander and all stakeholders that he will continue the peace efforts and initiatives of the unit.

“Rest assured, I will try all efforts to be at par with your performance so that whatever accomplishment you had it will be maintained for the betterment of the unit and the whole community,” he said.

The Change of Command Ceremony was presided by Brigadier General Fernando M. Reyeg, the Commander of the Joint Task Force Basilan/101st Brigade, 1ID, PA.

The activity was witnessed by the respective leaders of the provincial and municipal local government units headed by Congressman Mujiv S. Hataman and Governor Jim Hataman-Salliman, together with the different partner-NGOs, and the commanders of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Basilan.
