Headquarters, Western Mindanao Command, Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga City- March 09, 2019.

Military seized a high-powered firearm of Abu Sayyaf militants after a 20-minute armed engagement with the group of sub-leaders Idang Susukan and Angah Adji Sulu this morning, March 9.

The ferocious gunfight with soldiers of 2nd Special Forces Battalion yielded to the seizure of an M16 rifle and two bandoliers of terrorists in Barangay Upper Binoang, Talipao, Sulu at 6:30am today.

Operating troops delivered mortar fires and cleared withdrawal route of evading enemies.

BGen Divino Rey Pabayo, Jr., Commander JTF Sulu, reiterated that the AFP in Sulu is committed in hunting down the ASG to secure the peace and continued development of Sulu.

We will sustain deliberate operations to hunt down and neutralize Abu Sayyaf militants in their strongholds,” said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, the commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
