From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Mar 9, 2019): Abu Sayyaf nabbed with bomb-making components
AN ALLEGED member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was arrested while bomb-making components were seized in Zamboanga City, the police said.
Senior Superintendent Joseph Thomas Martir, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested Abu Sayyaf bandit as Benwagas Salapuddin, who is listed as the number one most wanted person in this city.
Martir said Salapuddin was arrested after being served a warrant of arrest around 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, at Sitio Asinan in Kasanyangan village.
He said that Salapuddin who carries the aliases of Midel Isnaji, Nidz Ahamad, Nidz Ahmad, Abu Nidel, Nidzmar Hamsali, and Benwagas Salapuddin, has standing warrants of arrest for the crime of double murder, multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murder.
He said recovered from Salapuddin’s possession were the following: two plastic bottles filled with ammonium nitrate fuel oil (ANFO); detonator leg-wire; toggle switch; led bulb; two nine-volt batteries; three cellular phone batteries; electrical tape; and, pyrotechnic powder.
