CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City (DWDD) – Twenty-two (22) members of Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) from Sub-Regional Yunit Guerrilla, Komiteng Probinsya 3- Sorsogon under Jeffrey Benzon Q Hazel/@Pita/@Jeffrey surrendered to 903Bde through 31IB at Barangay Rangas, Juban, Sorsogon June 10, 2018.



The 22 NPAs brought with them one (1) M653 Rifle; one (1) M14 rifle; one (1) KG9; one (1) carbine and three (3) cal. 45 pistol.

BGen Greg Almerol, Commander 903Bde, said that the successful surrender of the CNTs was brought about by continuous negotiation with the help of other government agencies and LGUs in the area. The former rebels were transported to Camp Ola, Legazpi City for custodial debriefing.



Meanwhile, a certain Armando Dor Panol, a regular NPA member surrendered to 9th Infantry Battalion in Labo Camarines Norte on May 28, 2018 carrying with him two (2) M16 rifles and subversive documents. Another seven (7) CNTs and 35 members of Militiang Bayan voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 2nd Infantry Battalion under the 903rd Bde in Masbate on January 21, 2018, three days after 10 NPAs yielded in Daraga, Albay.



Lt Gen Danilo G Pamonag, Commander SOLCOM expressed his appreciation to the efforts of the field units because it is the first time in history that a number of NPAs surrender in Province of Sorsogon. He further said that the series of surrender is a manifestation that more and more NPAs have realized the futility of fighting against the government.

“The Command welcomes the surrender of the 22 members of the CNTs. It is not only an achievement for the AFP but most especially for the family members of the former rebels because, at least, this is one step closer for them to have a normal life and enjoy every moment with their families and loved ones.” He assured that SOLCOM will continue its mandate to protect communities and ensure the unhampered implementation of government development projects for the people.

Further, LTG Pamonag urges the members of the NPA terrorists to lay down their arms and live a normal life with their families while they still have a chance. “Instead of fighting the government, we should all unite and help our people achieve a better life,” he added. SOLCOM / MCAG
