An NPA force under the Western Agusan del Norte – Agusan del Sur (WANAS) Subregional Command harassed last May 15 the troops of the Philippine National Police – Regional Public Safety Battalion PNP-RPSB in launching combat operations in the mountainous part of Sitio Lamusig, Brgy. Tungao, Butuan City. A police official was reported to have been wounded. This incident was followed by an NPA attack of a police station in Brgy. San Mateo of the same city. Five PNP personnel were confirmed killed and other PNP casualties await to be reported.
At 3:23 o’clock in the morning on May 14, a unit under NPA-WANAS attacked a CAFGU detachment in Brgy. Sinakungan, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur. The siege lasted for several hours but to no avail. NPA-WANAS operatives confirmed the martyrhood of two Red fighters namely, Ka Bagani and Ka Marjon. The NPA-NCMR thus offers the highest honors in salute to the fallen comrades.
For three days on May 7, 8, and 10, the NPA-South Central Bukidnon Subregional Command has launched counter-attacks against a unit of chopper-dropped Scout Rangers (SR) on combat operations into the town boundary betweem Cabanglasan and San Fernando in Bukidnon. Four Rangers succumbed as KIA during the said operation. Instead of “facilitating in the barangay polls” as part of the mandate of the regime’s armed forces, they turn out to be sustaining also their operations against the revolutionary movement.
Since January of this year, the AFP and PNP have intensified their operations wherein 20 incidents of armed clashes occurred between the NPA and the US-Duterte government-backed troopers. As part of the active defense on its guerilla bases, the NPA-NCMR has suffered a total of 7 killed-in-action (KIA), scores of wounded-in-action (WIA) and two caught as hors-de-combat. On the other hand, the AFP and the PNP had 15 of them killed and scores also were their wounded casualties.
The NPA-NCMR condemns the US-Rodrigo Duterte regime its loyal minions in the AFP, PNP and other state-directed armed elements for launching a sustained military operations in the region, even during the barrio polls and during traditional or religious activities of the populace. Let it be remembered that they, during the Holy Week, attacked and bombed with howitzers the mountainous communities of Bukidnon ug Misamis Oriental.
Yet despite the sustained attacks the reactionary troops have wreaked upon the region, the NPA-NCMR is still affirms its support to the initiatives of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) regarding the resumption of the peace negotiations and the possible interim ceasefire declaration possibly by June. In this light, the NPA in general is showing sincerity and deference in abiding the agreements hereby forged as the GRP-NDFP resumes their negotiations.
The NPA-NCMR is ever ready as the state intensifies its attacks against the revolutionary movement and the people. It strengthens the revolutionary ranks, be it with their military or political tasks at hand, in order to foil any scheme that the state plots against the people’s interests here in the region.
