Another kidnap victim who was in captivity for more than three months was released by the Abu Sayyaf group on Monday in Jolo, Sulu.

Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, said the victim was released around 8 a.m.. in Barangay Latih in Patikul due to his "health problems."

Sobejana identified the victim as Engineer Enrico Nee, an employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways District 1, who was abducted last February 14 in Kasalamatan Village, Barangay San Raymundo in Jolo while on his way to work.

He said that the victim may have been freed due to the pressure of combat military operations.

The military said that Nee had recalled that he was cornered by seven heavily armed men who were on board a Tamaraw jeep. He was then brought to a mountainous part of Patikul where more Abu Sayyaf bandits were waiting.

The victim, according to the military, also said that the bandits may have released him due to his health condition which delays their movement.

Nee is currently under the custody of Joint Task Force Sulu and undergoing medical examination and debriefing.

The Abu Sayyaf recently released four people, including two policewomen.

Sobejana said the group still has at least nine captives including a Dutch, three Indonesians, a Vietnamese and four Filipinos.

"Mataas yung aking expectation na all other victims will be released," he said.
