NAVAL STATION FELIX APOLINARIO, Panacan, Davao City (DWDD) – Two extorting CPP-NPA terrorists (CNT) were captured by the operating troops of 30th Infantry “Python” Battalion (30IB) after an encounter at around 5 AM, May 5, 2018, in Brgy Can-aga, Malimono, Surigao del Norte.

Lt Col Allen Raymund Tomas Commanding Officer 30IB said that his troops were acting on the reports of local residents about the CPP-NPA terrorists’ abuses and extortion activities in the said Barangay when they were fired upon by an undetermined number of NPA Terrorists which sparked the encounter.

The firefight lasted for about 20 minutes after which the NPA scampered in different directions.

  

During pursuit operations, troops captured two (2) CNTs and recovered from their possession two (2) landmines, one (1) improvised homemade shotgun, one (1) ICOM radio charger, one (1) combat boots and cash worth Fifty-Three Thousand Pesos (P53,000.00) which is believed to be extorted from the communities.

Further, scouring also led to the discovery of CNT camp, seizure of one (1) M16 rifle, one (1) hand grenade, six (6) Landmines, one hundred (100) meters electrical wire, 50 live ammo of AK47, 42 live ammo of 5.56mm M16, 10 backpacks, one (1) Yaesu ICOM radio, one (1) sack of rice, personal belongings, medical supplies and subversive documents. 30IB / MCAG
