Allied organizations with the National Democratic Front (NDF) – Mindoro call upon the Filipino people to raise the banner of genuine democracy through drumbeating and upholding their agenda for patriotic and democratic change on the onset of the barangay and sangguniang kabataan electoral campaign today, May 4.

We stand firm that the root causes of poverty can only be resolved through the new democratic revolution, not through the bourgeois and reactionary election. The new people’s government thriving in the countryside which territory comprising more than 10,000 barrios, is the genuine forerunner of national democracy in the country today, not the militarist and the US Imperialist-puppet Duterte regime in Imperial Manila.

All units of Lucio de Guzman Command/New People’s Army (NPA) – Mindoro and revolutionary forces are more than ever resolute to expand guerilla zones while fortifying present bases of the people’s government. More and more Mindoreños join the NPA to become Red fighters as the rotten system frustrate them in achieving their interest for agrarian reform, national industrialization, self-determination and job security. Thousands more are organizing themselves in various revolutionary underground organizations in rural areas and urban centers in the island while bureaucratic corruption and bankruptcy fail to improve their quality of life.

While remained determined to wage a revolutionary armed struggle, the people should build a popular united front against tyranny and fascism for the advancement of their legitimate agenda and demands.

It is high time for Mindoreños to intensify the campaign against destructive foreign and large-scale mining and energy projects, corruption-driven National Greening Program, aggravating forms of feudal and semi-feudal exploitations, worsening human rights abuses and militarization, bureaucratic corruption and bankruptcy, escalating unemployment, and so on.

Mindoreños should reverberate the call to stop militarization of civilian communities and the forward basing of military camps in areas with popular dissent against destructive mining and development aggression. They should challenge political aspirants, even those contending for Sangguniang Kabataan posts, to uphold human rights and stand against tyranny.

The legal progressive movement of all people advocating just peace should exhaust all efforts to assert for a clean and honest election. They should uncompromisingly fight various forms of election fraud and violence. Good governance and anti-corruption campaign should thwart all dirty manuevers and political chicanery of the most reactionary and most corrupt enemies of the people vying for positions in the local level.

Mindoreños, with armed struggle in one hand, and electoral struggle on the other, must frustrate political cliques such as that of Ramirez-Sato and Montenegro in Occidental Mindoro and that of Villas in Oriental Mindoro. Along with this, we should not allow Rodrigo Duterte and his military cohorts as well as their army of ultimate fawners, death squads, trolls and black propagandists to wield political clout in their desperate attempt to be in power beyond 2022 through their federalist reveries or nationwide martial rule.

Lastly, Mindoreños and the Filipino people should not be intimidated in any way with Duterte and US imperialists’ terror tagging against revolutionary and progressive individuals. Undaunted, we should altogether seek strength in our united ranks in the fight for genuine democracy and freedom.
