The number of soldiers hurt in the encounter with members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya on Thursday has risen to 11 as a hot pursuit operation continued as of press time, the military said.
First Lt. Catherine Hapin, information officer of the Philippine Army's 7th Infantry Division, said the wounded soldiers, who belong to the 84th Infantry Battalion, were brought to a hospital in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
No one was killed from the government troopers' side but the NPA lost one member, she said.
Soldiers recovered from the slain rebel one hand grenade, an M16 Armalite rifle, medical kits, and subversive documents, Hapin said.

The soldiers encountered an undetermined number of NPAs as they were responding to information given by "the people in the community", who reportedly complained about the presence and activities of the rebel group.
