Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija (DWDD) – A firefight ensued between the troops of 84th Infantry “Victorious” Battalion, 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, Philippine Army and the New People’s Army terrorist on 8:30 AM of November 9, 2017 in Brgy. Sanguit, Dupax Del Sur, Nueva Viscaya.

The incident transpired when the troops responded to the information provided by the residents of the community on a formation of an armed group. The troops was able to reach the given area and chanced on the NPA terrorist. The Communist Terrorist (CT) group were under the Venerando Villacilio Command operating in the boundary of Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino provinces.

An unidentified communist terrorist was killed with an M16 rifle, a hand grenade and subversive documents recovered from him in the encounter site while ten (10) Army troopers were wounded as a result of the confrontation. Troops are still scouring the area while the wounded personnel are being extricated from the area for evacuation to the nearest hospital.

NOLCOM will continue to conduct focused military operations to ensure the safety and security of the populace from any NPA threats and eventually bring the government services particularly in the depressed barangays considered as Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Areas (GIDAS).
