SULU (DWDD) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines, particularly troops from Joint Task Group Sulu, intensified its focused military operation and have scored anew against the bandit group Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) recovering firearms and other equipment in Patikul town, Sulu yesterday afternoon.
According to Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado, Joint Task Group Sulu commander, his men were conducting operations against ASG bandits at Sitio Tambang, Barangay Timpook, Patikul when they chanced upon a group of bandits resulting in an undetermined number of the bandits killed and wounded while no losses were reported among government troops.
Among the items seized an M-14 automatic rifle and a magazine containing 19 rounds; an empty M-16 magazine; three ICOM VHF transceivers; a bandolier, one pair of binoculars, and a laser red dot (vertical hand grip) for a M-4 rifle.
BGen Arrojado added that pursuit operations are still ongoing. JTGS / MCAG
