From the Borneo Post Online (Jan 7): New ESSCom commander visits outlying security posts
LAHAD DATU: Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) commander DCP Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid made his first official working visit to several outlying security posts in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) yesterday.
Wan Abdul Bari, who was accompanied by ESSCom chief executive officer Noor Alam Khan Abd Wahid, visited several security posts in Pulau Adal, sea-based Tun Sharifah Rodziah, Pandanan, Pom Pom, Bohey Dulang, Mabul, Sipadan, Kapalai and Pulau Omadal.
The visits, he said, are to check on the level of preparedness and logistic needs of the security forces in the frontline to ensure they are always adequate and ready.
“These visits are to check on the needs of security forces and to ensure their logistic needs, weapons and assets are adequate to ensure they can carry out their patrolling duty effectively,”he said during his visit to Pulau Adal security post.
Also accompanying him were deputy commander Brigadier General Dr Kenali Basiron, special operations force chief of staff, SAC Mohamad Ismail, operation centre chief of staff, Brigadier General Dato’ Md Rahim Mohamad, intelligence chief of staff, SAC Ahamad Zufahmi, maritime enforcement chief of staff, Laksamana (M) Karunanithi A/L Munusamy, special investigation and technical chief of staff, Awang Besar Dullah and senior ESSCom officers.
He said the visit is important for him to assess and be apprised on the level of preparedness and emergency action plans in the event of any cross border crimes in the areas.
“I will review the plans and daily assignments of the control posts to ensure that it meets the needs of the current security situation as had been planned by ESSCom, including its contingency plans in the event of cross border crimes,” he added.
Wan Abdul Bari took over as ESSCom commander from DCP Dato’ Abdul Rashid Harun on December 23, and has pledged to continue the crime prevention efforts that have been implemented by the ESSCom leadership.
