The Commission on Appointments confirmed on Wednesday the ad
interim appointments of Civil Service Commission (CSC) chief, a member of the
Judicial and Bar Council, 16 diplomats and 77 senior officers of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
In front of the 16 CA members at the plenary session, the
powerful commission confirmed the appointment of CSC Chairperson Alicia Dela
Rosa-Bala, replacing Francisco Duque III. Dela Rosa-Bala will serve as CSC
chief up to Feb. 2, 2022.
The CA, however, deferred the appointment of CSC
Commissioner Nieves Osorio, pending the clarificatory questions from Rep.
Rodolfo Farinas.
At the plenary, the CA also confirmed the ad interim
appointment of Maria Milagros Fernan-Cayosa as member of the Integrated Bar of
the Philippines ,
JBC of the Supreme Court with a term expiring on July 8, 2019.
The commission also confirmed the ad interim appointments of
Ambassador Jesus Domingo to New Zealand
with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic
of Fiji , the Kingdom of Tonga
and the Independent State of Samoa.
Other confirmed envoys include: Minda Calaguian-Cruz to
Australia, Noel Eugene Eusebio Servigon to Vietnam; Eduardo Jose A. De Vega to
Mexico with concurrent jurisdiction over Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Dominacan Republic and Cuba; Eva P.
Garcia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Carlos D.
Sorreta to Russia with concurrent jurisdiction over Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine
and Kazakhstan.
The CA also sealed the confirmation of Ambassadors Maria Fe
T. Pangilinan to Hungary with concurrent jurisdiction over Bosnia, Herzegovina,
Serbia and Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova; Joseph Gerald Angeles to
South Africa; Philippe Jones Lhuiller to Portuguese Republic; Jose D.R. Burgos
to Brazil and Venezuela; and Jose Cuisia Jr. to the United States.
The other DFA appointees who got the CA approval include
Eric Aquino, Lenna Eilleen De Dios-Sison and Eleanor Jaucian as Foreign Service
Officer (FSO) Class 1; Emma R. Sarne as career minister; and Bryan Jess T.
Baguio as FSO Class 2.
The confirmed 77 AFP senior officers include: Major Generals
Andre M. Costales Jr., Guillermo A. Molina Jr., Rodolfo D. Santiago and Elmer
S. Pabale; Brig. Generals Archimedes H. Viaje, Maximo J. Ballesteros, Alvin A.
Parreno, Arleen N. Gorreon, Diosdado G. Respecio, Romeo N. Dela Cruz, Raul M.
Farnacio, Demy T. Tejares, Rafael A. Sera Jose, Rhoderick M. Parayno, Harold N.
Cabreros, and Alvin Francis A. Javier.
Those with Commodore ranks are Rene V. Medina, Robert A.
Empedrad, Jande S. Francisco, Gaudencio C. Collado Jr. while those promoted to
captain are Socrates M. Daza, Romeo P. Pulido Jr., Francis Alexander R. Jose,
Oscar D. Canlas Jr. and Fernando V. Naval.
The AFP officers with the rank of colonel include Joselito
T. Lopena, Gregorio B. Hernandez Jr., Sofronio P. Marquez Jr., William P.
