With the successful conclusion of the Asia-Pacific Economic
Conference (APEC) Leaders' Summit , the Armed
Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday announced that the "no-sail
zone" being implemented in Manila
Bay has finally been
lifted.
This was disclosed by AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto
Padilla.
The AFP has earlier implemented a 12-nautical mile
"no-sail zone" in Manila
as part of the efforts to secure the APEC delegates.
With the lifting, cargo and passenger ships and fishing
boats can now sail and fish in Manila
Bay .
Padilla also said the "no-fly zone" is now lifted
but general aviation operations are to be suspended once an APEC leader or
representative departs from the Philippines .
The 40-nautical mile exclusion zone for this still remains,
he added.
