The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed optimism
that the coming Asia -Pacific Economic
Cooperation Leaders Meeting will be concluded without any untoward incidents.
This was announced by AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto
Padilla Sunday.
This is possible as the APEC Security Task Force is still to
detect any threats that will mar the proceedings which will start on Nov. 17
and end on the 20th.
"We're optimistic (that) the APEC (meeting) will (be
concluded smoothly) and peacefully," he added.
Padilla also said that increased visibility among security
forces is not in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Paris , France
which claimed the lives of 150 persons but merely part of the actual APEC
security procedures.
"The more security forces you see, the safer you will
feel, that's what the President wants (and) let us assure (everyone) that
everything is safe by having more visibility," he pointed out.
