The deputy provincial police director of Camarines Sur is
now in critical condition in a hospital while his nephew died on the spot in
ambush staged by New People's Army (NPA) members at Zone 2, Barangay Salvacion,
Bato, Camarines Sur while on their way back to the Camarines Sur Provincial
Police Office Monday night.
Seriously wounded was Supt. Romeo Pillonar, married and
resident of Zone 7, Divina Pastora, Camarines Sur while his nephew, Domingo
Landagan, died in the ambush.
Pillonar's security officer, P02 Ian Dave Ramos, was spared
by bullets.
Police Chief Supt. Victor P. Deona, Bicol police director,
said the ambush happened at about 6 p.m. Monday.
Pillonar and Landagan were hit by bullets on the first burst
of fire, with the latter dying on the spot.
Ramos, on board another motorcycle, sped off and called up
his fellow officers with his cellular phone.
Members of the 2nd Maneuver Platoon based in Barangay
Nierva, Nabua immediately responded but the rebels had left already.
Combined elements of the Camarines Sur Police Public Safety
Battalion and the Philippine Army pursued the fleeing rebels.
