Activists brand retired Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan as the "Butcher" for allegedly being responsible for the numerous deaths of leftists.
The principal prosecution witness will testify on Monday before a Bulacan court to identify again retired Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan as the one responsible for the disappearance of University of the Philippines (UP) students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeno.
Raymond Manalo will take the witness stand at the Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 14 to point Palparan one who ordered his men to kidnap and torture the two UP students in 2006 in Bulacan.
Manalo is expected to tell the court in the presence of Palparan his recollection and personal experience how the two women were tortured by the former military official's people.
Authorities nabbed Palparan in August last year after going into hiding when the Bulacan court issued an arrest warrant against him for the kidnapping and illegal detention charges.
Palparan was detained at the Bulacan provincial jail but was later transferred to a military detention facility.
