CAMP ELIAS ANGELES, PILI, Camarines Sur – The
9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army celebrated Valentine’s Day with a
bloodletting activity for the Bicol
Medical Center
at the 9ID Gym here led by Maj. Gen.Yerson Depayso, 9ID commander.
Capt. Mardjorie Paimela P. Panesa, 9ID spokesperson, said
donors were officials and men of the division as well as civilian employees of
the Philippine Army in Bicol and other soldiers from the various battalions
under the division like the 9th Civil-Military Office Battalion, 22nd CAFGU
Battalion and Army reservists of the 502nd Community Defense
Center .
Also donating blood were the Bureau of Fire Protection men, Naga City
and Provincial Government of Camarines Sur officials and personnel, youth and
students of the Camarines
Sur State
University for
Agriculture and Bicol State College of Applied Science and Technology and media
practitioners.
A boodle fight was held among the soldiers and the donors as
the customary practice of the military when there is a big occasion.
The event was able to collect 68 bags of different types of
blood from the donors.
The division also sent 20 men to a similar activity of a TV
network in Naga.
“The 9ID is active in bloodletting activities to help in
making available a sufficient supply of blood in times when Bicolanos badly
need blood,” Depayso said.
