The Capiz-based 3rd Infantry Division joins the rest of the nation in the celebration of the Philippines' 116th Independence Day.

Major Ray Tiongson, the unit's spokesperson, said the 3rd Infantry Division officers and enlisted personnel will do their best to live and follow this year's theme, “Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago”.

"(This theme)surely hits every soldier’s heart as the Army here in Western Visayas continues to emulate the courage and perseverance of our forefathers in attaining our independence," he added.

Tiongson stated that in face of any challenge and adversity, the 3rd Infantry Division remains committed to exercise its sworn duties to serve the Visayan people and secure the land.

"It is likewise fully optimistic that by working together in the spirit of 'Bayanihan', we will be triumphant in attaining just and lasting peace in this region," he concluded.
