Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said on Friday the entire military establishment is welcoming the appointment of Major Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri as the 56th commander of the Philippine Army.
"His experience on both combat and administrative fronts will greatly contribute to the realization of the PA's vision of a world-class Army that is a source of national pride and the continued success of IPSP 'Bayanihan' in winning the peace," he added.
Iriberri, former commander of the Nueva Ecija-based 7th Infantry Division, succeeded Lt. Gen. Noel Coballes at the helm of the Army.
Coballes retired on Friday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
