Posted to Kalinaw News (Sep 22, 2020): Army, NPA clash in Negros Oriental

CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan Capiz – The Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (62nd IB) encountered with more or less seven members of the communist-terrorists at Sitio Anatuling, Barangay Budlasan in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

The firefight happened at around 11:45 in the morning that lasted for about five minutes. After which the communist-terrorists scampered towards the different directions. No one was hurt on the government side.

Captured from the encounter site was the following war materiels: one cal .45mm Pistol; one cal .22mm revolver; one magazine for Cal .45mm Pistol; eight rounds .45mm ammunitions; seven backpacks containing subversive documents and personal belongings; one CPP-NPA flag; and assorted medicines and medical paraphernalia.

Major General Eric Vinoya, the Commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division states that the encounter is a result of 3ID’s relentless military operations against the communist-terrorist group in response to the clamor of Negrenses for a peaceful and insurgency-free Negros.

“We are serious in fulfilling the desire of the Negrenses for a peaceful island; hence, our troops in the area are now in combat mode to pursue these anti-peace and anti-people communist-terrorists. We will not stop until they will be rendered irrelevant to the communities,” MGen Vinoya said.

Moreover, he reechoed his call to all Negrenses to continue helping their Army by giving accurate information about the presence and the activities of the communist-terrorists to prevent them from harming the communities. “We all aspire for a peaceful and a progressive Negros. We can defeat these peace spoilers if we work as one,” he emphasized.
