CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental- A total of PHP 544,000 in various assistance has been granted by the government to 29 Former Rebels (FRs) in Misamis Oriental during Enhanced Comprehensive and Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) awarding held at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel, Opol, Misamis Oriental last September 17, 2020.

The awarding was graced by Engr. Marisia C Naybe, Provincial Director of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-X) and was attended by Hon. Dexter Yasay, Provincial Board Member of Misamis Oriental, Mr Jhunleymar Abella, head of Provincial Social and Welfare Development (PSWD) Misamis Oriental, Philippine National Police (PNP) , and the Army’s 58th Infantry ‘Dimalulupig’ Battalion.



Two FRs received livelihood assistance amounting to PHP 50,000 each and 26 FRs received immediate assistance amounting to PHP 15,000 each, and 5 received firearms remuneration in which four of them are included in the recipients of immediate assistance.

The financial assistance under E-CLIP is one of the strategies of the “Whole-of-Nation-Approach” to end local communist armed conflict which aims to address the root causes of insurgency and other armed conflicts by prioritizing and harmonizing the delivery of basic services and social development packages by the government.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Ricky L Canatoy, the Commanding Officer of 58IB said, “To the rest of the NPA members who are in the mountains, now is the time for you to lay down your arms and live a normal life with your families. The government has laid programs for you to start anew. Or else, the army will use all its might to hunt you down.”

“Your Philippine Army together with other partner agencies will remain sincere in helping those who were once lost and became victims of the CTG’s deception,” Lt. Col. Canatoy added.

The said beneficiaries also received other assistance that includes healing and reconciliation initiatives, legal, medical and employment assistance.
