CAMP GERONA, MURCIA, Negros Occidental – The elements of 62nd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army under 303rd Brigade seized New People’s Army arms cache while conducting security patrol at Sitio Bungao, Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on September 17, 2020.

The troops of 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion responded to a report about the presence of armed men in Sitio Bungao, Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City last Thursday when they chanced upon Joselito Ebarle who immediately ran towards his house upon seeing the presence of the troops. While on the course of running, he accidentally dropped a caliber .38 revolver. Troops were able to apprehend him and after scouring the vicinity of his residence, they were able to discover two M16 rifles, eight caliber .38 revolvers, two home-made shotguns, one magazine of M14 rifle with ten rounds of live ammunition; one back pack containing various documents, personal belongings and a red flag bearing the symbol of NPA.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander said,” This discovery of the NPA arms cache is made possible by the relentless operations conducted by the 62IB and by the information relayed by residents who are fed up with the continued presence of the NPAs in the area. The seizure of the NPA arms cache will greatly demoralize the NPAs and will affect their capability in sowing terror among the peace loving citizens of Guihulngan City and its immediate vicinity.

I am commending 62IB for their aggressive efforts in going after the NPAs who continue to terrorize the residents of Central Negros. Pursue them without letup and eradicate them to preserve the stability of Negros. I would like to thank the residents for their continued trust and support to our troops, PNP and our local government units, ” Colonel Pasaporte added.
