The Philippine Navy (PN) on Monday received information and communication equipment donations from the private sector.

In a statement, Navy public affairs office chief, Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, said Globe Telecommunications Inc., provided three signal boosters, 10 pocket Wi-Fis and 20 cellphones with load and data while Smart Communications donated three pre-loaded Home WiFi units.

They also received a VSAT Internet Terminals were received from REVLV Solutions Company.

Roxas said these donations were coursed through the PN Naval Information and Communication Technology Center (NICTC) headed by Captain Marcos Imperio.

NICTC serves as the Navy’s primary unit responsible for ensuring fast, reliable and secure communication.

It ensures improved communication and connectivity among fleet-marine teams who are deployed in the different quarantine assistance stations or checkpoints.

She added that the equipment will enhance the PN’s communication requirements as it helps the government mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic.

"These communication equipment and devices were distributed and installed to the PN’s deployed units under Naval Task Group-National Capital Region (NTG-NCR). It includes the mobile communication units and teams serving as an additional communications medium in monitoring and relaying vital information and instructions among the troops deployed in various strategic areas during the quarantine period," Roxas said.
